help eel wont eat

I recently purchased a blue ribbon eel, about 3 feet long in my reef tank, Its situated itself nicely underneath some live rock, But i can't seem to get it to eat, i've tried Ghost shrimp, defrosted market shrimp, and even goldfish! i can't seem to get it to eat... any suggestions please???
Tank: 180 gallons
Skimmer, sump
77 degrees
all Parameters good.:help:

OK don't take this response as fact but i remember reading somewhere that eels can go up to a few weeks without eating if it was well fed the last time he ate....i'm very new to this too so i could be wrong

Your eel is still getting used to your tank. It might not eat for awhile. I also wouldnt suggest you feed your eels or any marine fish goldfish. It is very harmful too them since goldfish have a fatty acid that they can not break down.

Everything thing I have ever read on ribbons say not to buy them b/c less then 5% ever live over 3 months in an aquarium, but I have read that people have had success by feeding them black mollies over guppys. its worth a try and good luck!

Try feeding it a live crab or silversides. As mentioned above, ribbon eels are very difficult to keep alive in captivity.
