Help Im losing all my Fish
my LFS is not much help except to sell me stuf thats not working
I ordered some fish from SWF and have had problems ever since
I have a 150 gal FOWLR & live sand, its been up for 1 1/2 yrs.
Water has Tested
Ammonia - 0
Nitrites = 0
ph = 8.2
Nitrates = 20
1.023 & temp = 78
It started with a hippo tang from SWF
and all thats left is 2 enginer gobys, a percula clown, and a sailfintang
sailfin tang appears to have fin rot and the gobys have a white slime looking stuf growing all over them.
The only things that still look health are the snails, hermit crabs and polyps on the live rock.
My LFS told me to use Maracyn and Maroxy it seemed to help but I still kept loosing fish one by one.
Now the say its ich and to use Greenex
I dont trust them what can I do
I know now I should have used a QT but i went all this time and never had any problems.

If the fish do have ich, then you're going to have to setup a q-tank. The only effective methods for treating ich will be harmful to inverts, and corals. If you read the sticky post at the top there is some good info on setting up a q-tank.
I'm not a disease expert, so I can't really help with the diagnoses of your fish, but no matter what the disease/parasite, I'm sure they'll need to be treated in a q-tank, so you may want to get this setup while waiting for someone with more info on whats wrong with your fish.

Thanks Stacy
I don't think I have time to setup a QT.
I didn't mean to point a finger at SWF for my problems, (that's probably why I am not getting any replies) but it is making me wonder why they stress using a QT so much.
I have been buying from a LFS and have never had any problems, but unfortunately they changed owners and stopped carrying salt water fish and the guy who helped me setup my tank is no longer there.

The mods that run the board don't really have ties to swf.com. They stress using q-tank because 1 sick fish can quickly wipe out an entire tank. Also not that many people are constantly browsing this forum.
Tangs are very sensitive fish, and I have never purchased one that didn't get ich. You just have to be prepared to take the neccessary steps to treat the fish.
As far as time goes to setup a tank you can do it fairly quickly. It doesn't have to be an actual tank. a rubbermaid container will do in a pinch. Drain some water from your tank into the container, and throw in a heater, and a filter. You'll have to do frequent water changes to keep the tank from cycling though.

If your fish have ich the only way to kill it is hypo. since you have live sand in your main tank you can't hypo in there. you can set up a qt tank in about 20 minutes on the fly. go to the first post here and read how to do it. this is probably the best chance you have at saving your fish.

You are so right! I just flushed 1 1/2 yrs down the toilet because of one fish. :mad:
I don't think I have time cause the remaining fish are infected already and probably wont survive the stress of moving them to a QT.
Any idea of how long I should wait to be able to safely add new fish or what I should do to my main tank before I can add anything. Like i said before all the inverts seem to be doing ok.

I dont think i have ich
It is more fin rot on the sailfin and a thick white slime looking stuf on the gobies.
