Help, Extreme algae problem or cyno bact?

Ive got some kind of maron/purpleish looking algae stuff growing on everything in my tank. Is this that cyno bacteria stuff Ive been hearing about. I recently upgraded my 29g lights from a 20W NO to a 96W 10K PC. How do I get rid of this stuff? Thanks for the help in advance!

What type of water are you using? You probably have a phosphate problem.

Salt water maracyin has worked for some people in the past. It is an antibiotic so it will kill some of your bacteris within your water but if you do not overdo it you should be fine..
This stuff is fun to deal with, I got rid of mine with stronger currents and more protein skimming. You can get this stuff with no nitrates and no phosphates.. It is a bacteria and does not seem to be affected much by light like algea does. Most of the time thiss stuff grows on the bottom or in shaded areas of the aquarim were water flow and light are lower..
Good Luck..

Raise your pH to 8.4 it will be gone with in a week or so. Monitor kH and calcium while you do this so they don't get out of whack. This is a sure fire way to deal with cyano bacteria. Avoid the red slime removers (although they work) for the reasons wamp suggest to be careful.
