HELP! he has stopped eating

My Lion fish has always been a healthy eater until last week. Now he looks at the silversides like they have a problem and swims away. Could it be a freezer burn issue or something like that? The Wolf eel has no problem with the same silversides. It has been 3 feedings since he ate, I feed every other day. How do you apply garlic in this type of situation? Can you use regular minced garlic that is used for cooking?

For a flavor enhancer you can use minced garlic. Add the juice to the food while it is defrosting. Have you checked your water readings? How long have you had the lion?

I've had him about 3 months,in which time he has doubled in size. all readings are good with nitrate a little elevated. I just did a 25% water change today. Everybody ( yellow tang, wolf eel, 3 hermits) are all still great eaters.

It is not unusual for lions to stop eating for a short period of time. It has been a few days though so try the garlic.

It may be. The lion will be more picky than the eel. Pick up a fresh pack and try without the garlic to see. It is alright to use warm water. I set the food in a small cup that is just for their food and add vitamins. As the food defrosts the viamins soak in. Many people use some tank water to defrost it quicker as well.
