help hermits and there shell

Red Leg Hermit Crabs do you need to put bigger shells in the tank for them and how often should you if you do. :thinking:

You should have a constant supply in the tank of a variety of sizes of empty shells. If you don't, they will either kill each other, or kill snails.

I found them at michaels craft shores 1.99 and 2.49 a bag about 15 in a bag the LFS was asking 1.89ea

hey skull69- did you treat those or anything before putting them in the tank?

I washed them in tank water and kent pro tech coat. Should I have done something else to them so they can live in them.

too bad you're not from buffalo, there is a lfs called the fish place that gives shells away

i wouldn't treat them. if i were you i'd put them through the washer machine without soap
