I have said this many times before, don't freak out over every little thing that "seems" to be wrong in your tank. Always give it a little time and don't start pulling things out, dumping meds in or you will be in for a lot of headache. I am not saying that you should ignore it, but give it some time to play out before getting too concerned.
I bought a flasher wrasse on Tuesday and it immediately hid in the rocks and did not come out at all yesterday. Today I came home from work, and he was swimming all over the tank.
Try not to get too freaked out over things until you are sure of the problem and you will have a much more pleasant and relaxing saltwater expereince.
That being said, I still haven't allowed myself to relax and completely enjoy my tank. Maybe I will make up some rum and coke tomorrow night and do some tank watching.....

I just re-read what I posted and it sounds kind of harsh. It is not meant to be. Please don't take it the wrong way...

1journeyman- i went to Dallas north
hatessushi- the spot was kinda on his face, i guess like his cheek (if fish have cheeks!) like i said, it was there this morning, but when I got home from work tonight, the spot was gone. maybe i just made a big deal out of nothing! i got two clowns, they were my first fish, no others in the tank yet. they were acclimated using the drip method for two hours last night.
txreef- you didn't sound harsh at all...you are right; i should calm down and try to enjoy the tank! (especially since i can't even see the spot on the fish anymore!)
i guess i will try to be more careful next time...my QT is being set up tomorrow so there won't be any trouble next time i buy a fish :(
thanks again everyone. :happyfish

Jenn, watch Dallas North. I was there today to get some epoxy. They had about a dozen dead fish. The store always looks good and they definitely cater to the North Dallas folks, but their livestock is questionable at best.
I'm really disappointed in our selection of stores in the metroplex. I was asking hoping you'd found a gold mine I was unaware of...

Have you tried the fish gallery? I was there in april and thought their selection was pretty good, but wasn't buying yet. We went back last weekend and was impressed with how clean the tanks were, and the corals were pretty decent, I got some eagle eye zoos and a star fish. Prices seem to be competative. But I usually buy from extreme corals, they run some decent specials.

Great to hear!
Puffer, thanks... I've been to both of those places, but maybe I was having a bad day. I'll visit them again and see what I think.

i freaked out when i seen a spot on one of my ocellaris and treated the whole tank with malachite green and both of them died and i am not sure if it was from the stress of being treated with malachite or if the gills were heavily infected...i am not sure what else to do if ich still remains in the tank after the treatment...also why do you have to leave the display empty for 6 weeks if the life span of ick is only 3-4 days with host and 48 hours without so if you treat the fish in hypo in the QT then the main DT should be cleared in about 2 weeks as well right?? i mean does that make sense or am i misinformed about the life cycle??

i did it and at the time that is what i was told to do as it was before i joined this site...now my other three fish have it cuz the stuff i used did work so now i will take them out of the display do a freshwater dip to rid them of the parasites on the outside then try to do a hypo treatment in my new QT which i didnt have before when i put the malachite in the main tank
