I questioned the kill the lights issue, for the simple fact, for if it is a issue with Phos bound to the LR....Killing the lights will have an impact initially, but then when light is introduced it will only continue....The leaching of Phos from the LR will continue.....
I understand.
To keep things simple after the undesirables die off you have two datums. One with lights/feeding and undesirables and one with no lights/feeding and no undesirables. So then you adjust lighting and feedings so desirable live and thrive and undesirables remain at bay.
that IMHO is a necessary part at aquarium maintenance.

Ok so i killed the lights for a day so far. I figure another 2-3 days and ill turn them back on and assess the situation. If it comes down to actually removing my rock and bleaching and i will just wait until the 75 is setup and deal with it then. Only because all the rock, water, etc. has to come out to move the tank so i can setup the 75. Its going in the same spot. Hopefully killing the lights will help. Thanks for all the advice and help. I shoulda came back here months ago. Just been too busy.
Do you guys think i should run carbon now while lights are off?

*Update* So i shut off the lights for 5 days. Turned them back on and boom, algae gone. It is coming back in a few places though. I did a complete clean of all equipment today as well as my regular water change. Lights are still cut back from 7 to 5 hours for now. Stupid me i cant remember when the last time i cleaned out the powerhead impellers but damm i took them apart and it was full of crap. Flow seems to be much better now. This could have also contributed to my cyano outbreak. So thanks to all for your suggestions and opinions. I feel im getting this tank back on track and i will be ordering my stuff for my 75 rimless setup.

I will be posting progress pics as soon as i get everything ready. Ordering tank and filtration this week. I still have a stand issue. Im pricing a few places. I jist cant find a decent stand to fit the sump with side access panel. Might have to have one made.

Not to be rude or a jerk......But IMPOSSIBLE NUMBERS!!!!!!!!!! Look at things theoretically you will not have 0's across the board.....Given the shear nature of life and how things work, there is always some bi product or waste, and your numbers are telling me I'm crazy......What test kits are you using.......
Sure there will be some.
but I disagree.
It is entirely possible to have 0 levels with hobby grade test kits. Sure there will be something but that can be undetectable with hobby test kits.
