HELP! I can't start my siphon in my Tidepool S.O.S.

I'm setting up a refugium and i can't start the siphon in my Tidepool S.O.S.
The directions are terrible. How do i start the siphon?

Do i have to put my mouth on the siphon start tube and suck air from the top of the U-tube (Siphon tube)???

Run a piece of airline through the J tube from the tank side up to the top of the bend. Suck the air out & the siphon should start.
