I just bought a bubble tip anenomie a week ago and it was looking fine, but now he has shrivled up a little bit and has turned from a dark puprplish pink color to a shrivvled up greenish color. is this normal.
2 things i think may be wrong if in fact something is wrong
1. not enough current going his way
2. not enough light

I recently did the same thing except with a florida condi anemone. When I first got him in the tank he would shrivel then he would get big again then shrivel then big and so on. The tank had only been set up for about 2-3 weeks but I had gone through my cycle the first week. After about the 3rd or 4th week he was always puffed up and eating squid and anything i fed him. I think he just had to get used to the metal halide and all the different water parameters from the lfs.

how long did this tank cycle for if everything has been up for just one month this could be a big issue for your anenome and other live stock.nitrate and amonia levels will spike sporaticly until the full cycle is complete.as far as water quality food lighting these are all aspects to be concerned with.ok water quality?what are your reading are you testing ?should be .nitrates(0) nitrites ph8.3 and amonia(0) now alk? calcium? are you testing for this also?if not you should be .if you dont have these test kits have LFS test for you asap b4 its too late.now for lighting what type of lighting are you using?anenomes need high lighting if your running florescents or just pc lighting it cannot survive for long.you need VHO or MH for them to grow.as far as food goes what are are you feeding it and how often.are you adding calcium to your tank? they need iodine calcium and trace elements along with food and lighting.as far as shrinkage goes yes its normal for then to shrivel up thats how they expell waste.but if he starts to get mushy and fall apart hes def lost..I hope this info was helpful good luck

You shouldn't get anemones until your tank has been established for at least 6 months. Also, anemones need at least 5 watts of light per gallon. If you just have florescent lighting, i can almost guarantee that's the problem. you need power compact, at least... You should definately move the anemone asap!!!

a bubble tip needs only 5 watts per gallon of some lighting..... you said you have halogen? i would not recomend this..... are they aquarium bulbs? i remember reefnut posting a while back about halogen reef lights. apparently a company just came out with some. but we do need to knwo how many watts you have. plus, halogens gety very very hot. and your tank is much to younge for an anenome.
