there is no magic potion to cure it.
i would remove the fish and treat them with hypo salinity for 4-6 weeks. during this time leave your tank fishless, the ich will die with no fish to host it.

i know many people will not like this answer, but it just worked for me, i had a horrible case of Ich a few weeks ago, and i used "Kick-Ich", and all my fish are healthy again, swimming and eating, no spots. It worked for me, i know other people have way different opinions, so you can take this with a grain of salt. Though i just used it, everyone's great, and i would use it again.
Though i will be QT from now on!

My friend you need not defend your post in this hobby I know one thing to be true. What works for one may not work for another

yea it safe for all! I dont have corals, but i do have inverts and rock and fish. I had a bad strain, so i did the "heavy dose" it took i think 15 days, and everything is healthy. you just cant do water changes while you're dosing, and you cant have carbon in your tank (filters) I have a 55g so my dose was 4oz on the days that it said on the bottle. I would recommend it. I was VERY skeptical until i did it and all my ich is gone.
let me know if you do it, i wanna know how your tanks doing

I used Formalin 3 - made by Kordon. It worked like a charm. I did not have coral in my tank, but i did have a lot of hermit crabs and they were not harmed. I also use it as a dip before putting the fish in the tank, by adding a small dose to the water in the bag.

these are al great advice, but wich one will not hurt the live rock or corals. this is my main concern.

I have used Kich Ich. I do NOT think it cures Ich. I think it helps lower the ammount of Ich. I used it twice now and still have Ich. The spots went away for a week or so and came right back after the treatment.

Why Kich Ick in my opinion doesn't kill Ich is beacuse it says it is safe for all inverts. ICH IS AN INVERT. No bashing here I love hearing the other experiences of what works for people. This is just my experience using the same product. I am now doing Hyposalinity in my Quarantine tank. Spot's have reduced greatly. ***Hypo cannot be done with inverts or Live rock though.***
I know how frusterating Ich cane be. I love lost a lot of fish buddies to this nasty parasite.
I hope all goes well with your fish.

Please do not use formalin! Wow, especially not in the display. Formalin is meant to be used as a dip only.
Kick ich is a method of controlling parasites. It does not kill them. It helps to keep ich off of the fish's body. Ich will still be alive and well in your tank. Your fish can be reinfected at any time.

you can get Kick-Ich at your LFS thats where i got mine. If you look in this forum you'll see a thread about Kick-Ich that i started and there have been several others with great luck.
On the bottle it says "Safe for all fish (including scaleless fish), plants, corals, and invertebrates." and LR too, i have a bunch of live rock and it didn't effect them at all.
I would try it, not everything works for everyone, but i'd do that and if it doesn't work for you then do hypo, but i would do it soon, i didnt do mine soon enough and my Hippo and my mated pair of clowns died before i could do the first treatment.
I had spots on my other fish and they had stopped eating but after 2 treatments they were eating again, and all their spots are gone and they are back to normal.

While I am an advocate for trying to eliminate Ich through the use of a HT with cupramine or hyposalinity, then using a QT for all new additions...IF I were going to dump a bottled Ich medication in my reef DT I would use Kick-Ick. It is readily available in most LFSs and many on line sites.

Al Mc have you used it before? I just did my treatment, and it seems to do wonders.
I used it several times when I first got into the hobby. I never saw any 'harm' that I could detect from the metronidazole to fish or inverts, but unfortunately the Ich would return on the fish within a month or two.
I do not think it is a bad alternative treatment for those that do not have the ability to do hyposalinity or cupramine for the fish in a hospital tank while their DT is fallow for 6 weeks. However, I am a realist. I know that due to time and expense there are many hobbyist that will not be willing or able to
go through these methods...and if done improperly (poorly cycled QT tank/overcrowded QT) you will have more fish losses with the more established methods of eliminating Ich.....
So yes I have used it with moderate success...no fish/invert loss..but Ich eventually came back....
