The LR in my tank has been there for at least 2 years. It was in the tank when I bought it and I've had it for over a year now. But this is the first time I have noticed this "thing" on the underside of a piece of rock.
It is a purple red color, with what looks like a mouth in the middle and many clear tentacles with yellow balls at the ends. What is it and do I need to get rid of it?? I also noticed a smaller one a half-inch from this one on the same rock.

i can't remember the name of it, but it's a pest related to the mushroom.
those tentacles are used to capture food. i have a bunch of them here and there. mostly in the overflows. there is a variation of them that grows large, but i don't think these do.
i believe they can sting.

I have lots of these. I keep them as part of the reef diversity. They live in the dark, mostly under rocks. They will eat some pods but survive mostly on detritus.

I have those in my tank but they are clear and one ate a mushroom. I found the mushroom half inside it, I pulled it out but the mushroom died anyway. It was very quick. I kill them now when I see them.
