Help indentify this fish please

I recently bought this fish a few weeks ago & was told it was a Flame Wrasse.
I don't believe that's what it is.
My problem right now is i bought some filler fish (cromis & a lemon damsel) & he has begun attacking them & killing them by inserting them into his mouth about halfway, & i'm talking fish that are his same size. I managed to safely save the lives of 2 of my fish that were caught in his grasp but i'm sure i will lose more to him.
I'm not sure if he is eating them or not. The one he killed yesterday i pulled out right away, but i had lost 2 cromis recently & hadn't seen there bodies.
I really could use help in determining what he is so i can figure out why he's doing this.
My only guess is that he might be some type of grouper?

If it is....................
Bright red with iridescent blue spots on the body and head. Juveniles may lack spots or have fewer, larger spots. Like its cousins, the miniatus is a durable species that will thrive in captivity. Although it can be shy when initially introduced to the aquarium, with time it will spend more time in the open, becoming quite bold in time. Only one Miniatus grouper should be kept per aquarium, as they are prone to fight with one another. It will eat any fish that they can swallow whole and behave aggressively towards tankmates that intrude into its preferred hiding places. It will also eat ornamental shrimps and crabs.

Doesn't really look like the same fish to me. My fish is orange & has blackish/brown spots & only a few.
& his fins are yellow.

This is pretty similar looking & i guess the age can change it's colors & spots, so who knows. But it definitely looks like it's in the grouper family. & everything i see on groupers, even small ones indicates they will swallow whole fish of any size they can fit in their mouth.

This websites price for this fish lists it as $95?
So i'd say i got a steal on a fish from a place that didn't really know what they were selling & i bought it for $18.
This site also says its size is 4-5 inches, why would it need a minimum 150 gallon tank. I am using a 39 gallon.
Should i be asking the store to replace this fish with another?
It's been several weeks since i bought it though.

You most certainly did get a steal of a deal on that fish! I usually see 3-4" specimens at my LFS for $40-$60. They do get quite large. I believe SWF.com had one for sale here a couple months ago that was close to a foot long. I'm not 100% sure though.

Miniatus is pretty much a species only tank. Give it 6 months to make it that way haha.
My dad had one way back, it ate fish nearly its own size, and had a cube of mysis itself every day. You have a juvi though, theres a good chance he wont pull anything funny until he gets bigger.
