This bubble coral is normally about the size of my outstretched hand. Today, it looks like this! :scared: It has never before had those weird, protruding stalks. Any feedback would be helpful....

That reminds me of that movie Alien where the chick has that thing pop out of her stomach... my suggestion... throw it & yourself into a pit of hot lava.

its fine, it will do that occasionally, looks like they bubble is attached to a plastic stick. It will be fine, it isnt dying or reproducing.

actualy that looks like a form of asexual reproducing, those look like new buds to start new colonies. looks like it is searching for a rock to connect the buds too. just my opinion

Thanks for the replies! I just got home from a Christmas party and the "chicken legs" are still sticking out. It does look like the scene from Alien. The other corals in the tank are looking particularly happy, so who knows?? This coral has been growing larger since I received it for my birthday in October (see my post regarding this same bubble coral eating my two juvenile false perc clowns when they tried to host it).
This is the first day that it has failed to fully inflate and expand its vesicles/sacs. Stay tuned for future developments.... ***)

This morning it is down to one "chicken leg". At the base of the stalk, right at the opening of the mouth was what appears to be 2 small, miniature bubble colonies. I will prepare a frag cup as described by oceana (what great instructions and pictures!) to see if the little white things are colonies in search of a rock.

Wow, this morning I looked in on my tank and.....the bubble coral has decided to look normal again.
No sign of "chicken legs" sticking out. No sign that it even cared that I was worried sick that I had killed it or something and no sign of tiny white bubble sacs. Nobody warned me that I would take this hobby so seriously

Hmmm, maybe I should switch back to fresh water....NOT!!!!
