Let it go....you lose to the boards...and those that run them.
Anyway, I ran into the dilema of fish dieing with my wife buying them. Problem is that she was buying them at a certian LFS that was a turn around artist.
Since then we only buy fish at a local store and one place online. We've had a 100% success rate since, as they hold fish for a minimum of 14 days.
It could be that as well.
2nd, I wouldn't buy anything until you stabalized your QT tank.
Third, never buy a fish unless you see it eat at the store. The best rule I learned.

that is obvious. for spiderwoman..2 fish died because im stupid and forgot to check the water for oxygen or the ph level i was so wrapped up in stablizing the ph and trace elements for 3 days b4 adding to my tank it backfired i wouldve been better off mixing the salt in the 5 gallon bucket for 15 min..instead i left it for 3 days and i guess there was no oxygen and the ph was low this never happend to me b4 in 3-4 years usually the salt mix makest he ph 8.2..i forgot for the last time to check the ph b4 adding to my dt..how do u explain a fish's death besides the ph was 7.4 and 2 fish died i feel terrible but u move on and u make sure to learn and be more careful....all the levels were fine except ph ..when the second fish died the ph read 8.2 but i used an expired fast test kit another mistake..now i have the right test and i added the buffer properly and the levels as of 1 hour ago were perfect im not gonna list them again...the fish in there is in qt even though i saw it swimming in a 12 foot tank for 2 months in my LFS..the fish is flawless and its already eating greens pellets and ofcourse shrimp...after the 3-4 week qt period it will join a regal tang in my 80..i can handle all this at one time and i dont slow down because all i do is tend to my tanks all day...and night.. i dont have a day job or night job.. if any1 is wondering i use my dads credit card for all this ..and use it for basically everything...i monitor my tanks about 10 hours a day...i have kept a fairly difficult anmeone happy thriving and tripled in size for 13 months i have 3 deeps sea yellow gorgonians that are growing and great the only reason i had ick in my 120 is because i didint qt 1 fish since my qt was down at the time...like i said the purple and yellow belly going in the 120 and the regal and powder blue going in the 80..the 72 is going to be setup this week run for 1 month with no fish and then become a tank for some mix of semi aggresive fish..the 2 55's and 30 will serve as a qt for all 3 tanks..

Mods - it is very apparent that SH2000 is causing a lot of angst on this board and not sure of the validity of his/her claims.
You are in as much of an infraction as anyone by TROLLING in every post you put up here.
I agree with SLY...IGNORED

This thread is going no where fast. I would ask people not to basically escalate an issue and create a negative thread.
But I implore you, SH2000, to start to listen. This is not about money and credit cards. This is about lives of animals....but I suspect eventually your Dad may not be real happy.
Please listen.

SH2000, people are trying to help you. They really are. I'm amazed, in fact, how helpful some of the same people continue to try to be.
No one is trying to tell you how to run your tanks or what to do. When you post an issue, however, be open to what you are being told. Ophiura explained point blank the pH issue. The odds of pH shock killing two seperate fish, at 2 seperate times, within an hour each time is kind of a stretch. That's what she was trying to explain. There could very well be another issue in the tank.
SH2000, look back over the title of some of the threads you have started in the past two weeks:
*help made a huge error
*Emergency Help with Stray Voltage
*Stocking list for 80 gal FOWLR
*Emergency Help with Stray Voltage
* anyone help me lower the temp..
*Are the hermits, crabs, snails, lmb in danger ?

*How does QT prevent diseases ?
That's just in the past 2 weeks. Those aren't all of your threads, I just list them to try to explain to you how confusing it is to those of us trying to help you. Many of us have read those threads. We've replied in them. You ask for help on one thread, then post another thread trying to argue with those who previously tried to help.
Out of habit, members begin to form ideas in their minds regarding a hobbyist's skill level and begin to post accordingly. It's not to insult you, it's just habit. For instance, even before I met Susan (Ophiura) I knew from her posts that she was very skilled in keeping Stars. As a result, I begin to mold my posts and questions, answers, replies, etc. We all begin to form a mental image of the different posters based on their threads and replies.
SH2000, in your case, you've just got everyone so confused they don't know how to respond anymore. You ask some very, very basic questions. That's not a bad thing; None of us were born with the ability to magically know everything about keeping SW tanks. It's great that you ask
. The problem is, people try to answer you based on what they perceive is your skill level. I think, based on your responses to them, that you think they are being harsh or talking down to you. The majority of the time they are not. They are trying to teach you.
This is supposed to be a relaxing hobby. It's a hobby where patience is not only required but demanded from us by our tanks.
Again, I am glad you post so often. I'm glad you are looking for info and answers. Just please try to avoid being confrontational when you hear something that contradicts what you want to hear. Take it as friendly advice from other people who care for hte hobby and want to help you out.
