I'm setting up my first SW aquarium, and I want a light that will support ANYTHING. SPS on the bottom, etc. I want no limitations. I'm making a reef set up.
I've already decided to go with metal halide
I have a 75g
My local store has a Current *1042* 150 HQI 10k w/ 2x 130 actinic and white moon LEDs. He said he would give it to me for $499 (it was marked $699), is this a good deal? Will it support ANYTHING i put on the sand?
plz help!!

I think you'd be happier with 250w halide bulbs instead of the 150w.

ok, I just called the shop I've been dealing with and told him I wanted a 2x 250w MH instead of the 2x 150w, and first he laughed at me, then said " i hope you know what you're doin', thats alot of light for a 75g"...
wtf?

wtf is right... that's not too much light at all. especially if you're going to have sps and other high light corals. I wouldnt put the coral too close to the top with those bad boys, though unless they are acropora or something like that

If you're worried about too much light, use a higer K bulb or hang them up higher.
I've seen people use 400w bulbs on shallower tanks.

If this is the criteria, then 2x250w is the minimum. Look into a retrofit with a canopy. YOu can get better reflectors using retrofit so you will get better light penetration.
check out hello lights . com for some of the best prices and selection.
