But was just wondering for my own curiosity...how do you know when the pod population in your tank is enough to sustain a mandardin?? Is there a sign or something that you should look for??
Thank you!

well after you have about 100 pounds of lr, let your tank mature for a long time, the logner the better. probably close to a year after it was set up would be good as long as the lr would be in there most of the time. Then look around your tank, the daytime is good because there arent as much pods during the day, but yous hould look at night too. you shouldnt have to look hard. There should be pods every;where. literaly.

Depending on your size tank and how many copepods you have a matched pair would be really really nice to see. One has a top fin the other doesnt not sure whether male or female has top fin but i thing 2 would be great. Post edited thanks fishieness.

That would definately be a very nice symbiotic relationship between them...
the male has the spike on his dorsal fin. But mandarins dont pair with pistal shrimp. only shrimp gobies do like watchman gobies.

well im definatly not getting pair. and before i get the mandarin my tank will be a year old. i will have added 45 more lbs of lr to make it 100. ill have 2 or three pod piles going that whole time. and about a wekk before i get it. im going to add a bottle of live pods. this should be a good population for one. for its life.
