Help me decide....

I would appreciate your expert opinions on the best of the currently available bio-sphere 'NANO' systems....

My 1st marine tank was 1967.... predating silicone sealant and the possibility for all glass aquariums and long, long before wet/dry systems.
I have looked at the 'AuquaPod' 24, 'JBJ' 24 Deluxe & the 'Red Sea' MAX.
My concerns are these:
I live in Florida and my average household temp is 77-79F....
so are these tanks going to become too warm w/o use of a chiller?
You may have heard... but we occasionally get HURRICANES and loose power for days, sometimes weeks! So an energy efficient system that I can maintain on my generator would be important.
Finally, an efficient & low maintenance bio-filter system is desirable....
Any opinions / Rave reviews?

First off, WELCOME to the boards. One of my tanks is an Aguapod 24g. Right out of the box it ran at 85 degrees with a house temp of 75. Tried everything to keep it cool. Long story short I have a chiller for it. Funny thing is my 90g with 8 bulbs doesnt get warmer than 78.

Gracias CoralJunky,
Thanks for the reply because as a Port St. Lucie guy you are 'Ese mi Hijo'... your my boy! and understand the unique problem of a FL. aquarium in a warm house. The 90g has more temp. stability because of the volume of H2O. Is it sealed like an Aquapod?

Oh yeah. The cheap 5" Walmart fan helps too. Hey off the subject. My father in-law owns a bar on the broadwalk down there.

Phew!!! But I do know of Toucan's on the broadwalk....
Hey! Thanks for your replies... Time for this guy to get to bed, since the Heat won their game. I am assuming you would recommend the Aquapod 24 if a chiller is added?

My Aquapod 24 gallon runs at about 80 degrees. Only thing I do to clean it is water changes and then I rinse out the filter in the old tank water.
If it gets too hot, you would most likely need to get a chiller, because an across-surface fan doesnt work out too well since the lights being mounted on the hood and all.
P.S. Which LFS do you go to?

Thanks Coral Crazy for your info on the AQUAPOD 24! At the price, I am leaning to that system. Is it all acrylic? How well do the nocturnal lights work? What livestock (bio-load) is it supporting?
A 80F running temp is acceptable w/o a chiller, I guess?
I have a LFS at 4200 W.Hallandale Bch.Blvd. named 'Fish Paradise', they have been their since the mid 1980's! Always a great selection of livestock. They sell aged, filtered seawater and top line equipment. I think you have a well known store around Lyons Blvd. in Boca.... the name escapes me. Your favorite LFS?
