Hi BettrDaz,
I've never had much luck with the Kent Liquid Calcium. It's calcium chloride only, and it by itself never performed well for me either.
I think NM reef's above recipe is about the best thing going, and is very similar to what I've found works best. Hard to beat that combination in my opinion.
If you are wanting to raise calcium, and like the convenience of using a liquid product, you may want to look into Seachem Reef Complete.
It will raise your calcium, and also contains magnesium and strontium. It has worked for me in the past.
One last thing - continue to monitor and adjust your alkalinity if necessary, and don't try to increase calcium level too fast. This can cause a decrease in your alkalinity. Then you are playing back and forth trying to get it back in balance.
Dosing Reef Complete every other day as directed raised mine back up - but it may take a couple few weeks to get you there. Slower is better IMO
Think about what NM reef mentioned as well. This combination of products has given many short term results with long term stable success as well.
Good luck and let us know how things work out
