I'm looking for suggestions on what to stock in my new 180 FOWLR. I have a purple psuedo, 2 clowns, and a sailfin tang that are going to be going in there. There are a couple of fish that I definitely want....those are:
Powder Blue Tang
Achilles Tang
Metallic Foxface
Anyone see any problems that I may have with adding those?? Also, I'm looking for other suggestions on inhabitants!!

i dont see any problems with it just know achilles tangs are harder to keep, or atleast this is what i read..
i think a yellow tang would bring a lot of color, or a wrasse or two, maybe a trigger?, a flame angel would be a lot of color too

Achilles and Powder Blue in a 180 is pretty iffy, I would not recommend it. These fish are both very aggressive and very closely related. I had an Achilles for more than five years, they are wonderful fish, but it is the most aggressive fish I have ever owned (this includes a list of Triggers and Wrasses). They do not like their own kind. The Sailfin would likely be ok being that it is already in.
As far as other inhabitants, there are a long list of Wrasses, Angels, and Triggers that would work in a 180.

I'm thinking of adding some coral...not much...just a few pieces here and there so unfortunately most of the angels are out as well as the puffers. Can triggers be kept with corals?? Probably not. And I thought triggers were agressive and would eat the clowns??

Yes...If it were me, I would do like you said in the opening post...FOWLR
(key words being Fish Only), Angels, Wrasses, Puffers and Triggers are more fun than "a few corals", I would find a home for your clowns and Purple Pseudos.

I would just go witht he Naso, and forget the other tangs. It is a fun fish, only problems it has a nasty hobby, it eats, and eats, and eats. As for your girlfriend, tell her to buy the fish if she wants it
. If you are adding just softies, you could try a valentini puffer, they are pretty cool, and reef safe, or at least I never had any problems. From personal experiance, I would worry about your clowns, I tried three times in my 125, and it just did not take. They are too fragile for tank with fast swiming fish like tangs. But check with others, maybe its just my bad luck.

She'll definitely be paying for the fish she wants
I have the 2 clowns in a 55 with a Sailfin and they have no problems at all.
I'm not sure what I will be adding regarding corals....I still have to do more research!!

But she did pick the right fish. If you get a Naso, you will love it, they are really beautiful once they start to become over 6 inches, their colors turn really vibrant. I would just leave the Sailfin, and Naso, for the big fish, and just load up on smaller fish. In a month or two hopefully, I will upgrade to maybe a 180, at least 150, and I will just keep my Yellow and Elibi mimic tang.

Put the tangs in at the same time or try to get them use to each other. One will try an dominate and most likely harass each other to death. My best experience was to buy them small and add them at the same time - they get territorial.

Will the sailfin, a Naso and a foxface be ok?
yup tey'll be fine. you should think about a large angel in my opinion.
are you still going with the either an achilles or powder blue?

I'd like to go with an Achilles, as it is a gorgeous fish, but I'm afraid that three tangs and a foxface would be too much for the tank.
What does everyone think??
In regards to an angel.....I already bought 3 pieces of coral, so an Angel is out.

No problems with a naso and a sailfin. I have both and they are very peaceful. Naso's can be tough to get to eat. If you get one use live brine shrimp and turnip greens from the grocery store to entice it. Also mine like formula 2 flakes. Once you get it rolling it will eat anything but will require ALOT OF VEGGIES. I wouldn't add the achilles or the powder blue with other tangs in that size tank. Down the road is asking for trouble. Instead of those maybe a hippo tang.

I think you could do the Achilles provided it is the last fish added, make sure you get one that you know for sure is eating and looks healthy. Once established I found mine very hardy.

HAHAHA Nothing yet. My lfs doesn't have a very good selection right now and a couple people told me that ordering a fish that price may be better to do online since they have a 14 day guarantee. It just makes me nervous to order a fish online!! Especially since its in the 20's here in Jersey.
