Tangs in general do better in mature systems set-up for at least 6 months.

Is this because of the water quality I'm assuming?

In genral yes...a system is more "stable" after the six month period. They also need plenty water movement, live rock and plenty greens in their diet.
This does not mean all tangs will perish in a young system...it simply decreases odds for success.

Well... I have plenty of water movement, live rock, and I bought alot of different greens for her... I just didn't have the six month term... I learned and feel awful I will not do that again in any case

I beleive you also mentioned the acclimation procedure may have been inadequate. I would wait a few months before trying another.
IT is also best to use a QT tank

Can you you please explain to me a QT tank? I mean I know its a quarantine tank, but is this like a tank that is always running with NOTHING in it, just for when you get new fish or your fish get sick? What size should this be?

Size depends on the number of fish and types kept. You do not have to keep a QT tank running contantly. You can set one up quickly but it requires contant monotoring of water parameters and taking corrective action to make sure they stay within acceptable limits.
By placing new addtions in a QT tank and monitoring you reduce the risk of introducing disease to the diaplay. Or, once disease is diagnosed in the display you can remove the animals to a QT and treat.
It is always option one...treating outside the display.
Size of the QT shuld be adequate to house the fish.. I like a 20 gallon long . If you keep large fish you will need a bigger QT set-up.

We all make mistakes. With the internet though it does allow us to research and not rely entriely on the lfs folks. Next time you are thinking of a purchase ask some q's and do some searching.
WHile there are MANY approaches to this hobby.....some approaches increase odds for success while others do not.
You wiill get both good and bad information....you simply need to verify the mainstrean views.

Well I searched as far as what to feed her, and how big of a tank etc, and also to make sure she would be compatible long term with what I was wanting to do with the setup. However, I didn't run across anything about needing the tank to be established at least six months or I would have waited... Live and learn....About the QT tank... How would I go about setting this up quickly? I have a 20g long in my yard I'm not using now. Would I still want to QT a fish even though I only have the one chromis and some LR in my main tank? How long do I QT it for?

the fish may have been sick when you bought it. regal tangs are pretty sensitive fish and need good water quality. I tranferred mine into a new tank after just a month of it being set up and it is fine.
