Hi,

I have a new new new reef tank, been set up for a week and a half I have my brown algea bloom here but not gone, I have not done a water change and my mother called me with a tracking number for a order she placed for me, being delivered tomorrow ... she said I needed stuff in the tank other than rocks and sand ! NO NO NO !

tank is a 20 gallon, 20 pounds of live rock and 35 pounds of live sand

the order is 2 frags,
one sand sifting starfish
10 turbo snails
10 blue leg hermits
1 emerald crab
1 peppermint shrimp
3 clams
1 green chromis ....

I have till tomorrow to freak out and waste my moms money ...

or I have a day to figure out what to do and hope they all survive ?!?!?

lfs is over an hour away (I'm in the sticks!) the only thing that is low in the tank is the calcium.

0 and 0 as of a few days ago when I tested the water. I was planning on doing a 3 gallon water change tonight (before I found out I had stuff coming.)

I put it all together a week and a half ago, put in the sand and live rock, then water. the sand and rock all came from ARC (heart reef) place out of Miami, they say no curing required ....

Hmm. Ok best bet is to add them and have water ready for changes. Test daily if anything starts going up do a water change. Its no guarantee tho

should I test tonight and do a 3 gallon waterchange ? then continue to test daily and have 3 gallons ready almost daily ? or a bigger 5 gallon change ready ?

ok, so test daily, be ready for a 5 gallon change if anything changes ... and by anything do you mean even the slightest change ?

I also have chem-pure elite in my filter, should I add anything else to the filter to help ? this "surprise" order from her is pushing my timeline ahead about a month ?!?!

ya, the bright side is I found out she ordered them from here so at least I know there is a 15 day guarantee, and it seems she spent $100 on sale items so its not as hateful as I initially thought, but I just don't like things dying on me !

And I'd see if you can get rid of the clams. I assume they are cleaner clams. If they die they will nuke the tank. Even if it is months down the road. A new tank won't have enough food in the sand to keep them going.

If and when your ammonia goes up and you use your 5 Gallons of water I would of course make 5 more right away and again test the very next day rinse repeat...good luck

They are cleaner clams, so should I just not put them in and see if a co worker that has a bigger more established tank wants them ?

Also they are Cerith snails apparently, not turbo ? Difference ?
