Help! my fish keep getting stuck in filter

I've got a HOB filter and my fish keep getting stuck in the bottom of the filter where it takes in the water. I've had a foxface that died because of it and now new blue tang just got stuck in it. What do i do? I can't put the intake screen on because of my rockwork. Any suggestions.

IMO, it is pretty unlikely that a healthy fish is going to get stuck on those HOB filters unless the tank is particularly small, the fish particularly small/weak or the filter is one I am not familiar with. So I would really be wary of that. What kind of filter is this? What size tank?

Was it just these fish or all fish? If it is one of those really small blue tangs...those things have a dismal survival rate. So it is not so much the filter as the fish. But a foxface...they are usually robust. Its weird. What size tank? Was it a new fish or an established fish? And the tank is cycled and everything?

I had the foxface for over a year. The tank is a 46 gallon, I know I shouldn't probably have the tang in there.

Move the rock..put the end back on it and put a sponge filter over that. It shouldn't be able to suck up healthy fish...
