I was looking in my tank and I saw that my live rock looked more ALIVE....put it in the tank 2 weeks ago..have 2 power heads on and skimmer no flourescent lights on..was waiting until cycle is over...at any rate wondering if any of you could help me figur out what these are on my rock..
----they look like aneomes (spe?) but not sure
one is growing out of a trunk like structure and has tenacles that are clear... the other one kinda reminds me a jellyfish I dont see a trunk like structure just is attached to the rock... Are they anemones...will they survive the cycling and will they survive without the flourescent light? Any advice would be greatly appreciated..oh also...a clam shell opened up and some cloudly slimy stuff flowed out of it....that was yesterday...today it is still opened.. but I dont see anything in it.... I presume its dead...is the shell ok to keep in there ...it appears to be attached to the rock... Thanks...sorry for the long post.

Could be aitapsia if so it is not a favorable species of anemone in your tank they are very hardy.I don't have a picture but maybe somebody will post one.If not do a search i've seen this talked about on here before with posted pictures.

sounds like aptasia, may survive cycling, but if it is you dont want it to. after a month add a peppermint shrimp it will clear out this pest. as for the clam, leave it alone its fine, but i doubt it will survive, of course unless you dont like how it looks...
