HELP!! My Wrasse has moved!!!

Somehow, someway, my six-line wrasse has gotten into the overflow on my tank.
We have TRIED and TRIED to get him out using the net, a mirror, flashlight, and a tool I have aptly named "the claw". However, he is a fiesty little sucker and has out-manuevered us every time. Any ideas on how to get him out other than taking everything apart? Is he okay to leave in there? He is such a brat too! He has figured out that he can fit in the little "cage" in there and won't be sucked into the sump so he hangs out in there.

Mine does the same thing all of the time. I just pull out the stand pipe, shut the pumps off, and he ends up in the sump or the bottom of the overflow, then I just put him back in the DT. He has lived in the overflow for months at a time, plenty of food and pods grow in there for him to survive, you just will never see him. I thought he died the first time he did this, couldn't find him for days, then luckily I saw his shadow in the overflow when I was under the tank looking for something.

How in the world do you suck the fish out using a large hose? Damsels and wrasses are great at hiding in the rocks and they move darn quick too!!

You get it to syphon the water out and just stick it near the fish.It will suck them right out.If they go in a hole it woill still work.Maybe even better.
I was doing a water change the other day in my QT tank.I always syphon out the old.Just out of curiosity i wanted to see if it would get the damsel i use to keep it cycled.Sure enough it sucked him right up.he was fine and no worse for wear.Just make sure you use a big enough hose. You don't want to hurt them

very cool~ We have tried numerous things to catch the 2 damsels in our tank..They are being kind of mean to the other fish...Thanks a ton when my husband gets home from work next week we will have to try it.

o this is very strange but you could use a small siphin and yse it like a straw until you get a good suction ( you really dont want to drink it lol) aqnd if it works pm me

A small siphon will require to high of suction with such a small area, and might harm the fish. It pays to have some 2" flex tubing laying around for situations like this...
