Help needed to identify?

Here is a picture of what appears to be some type of algae/plant growth.
Been like this about a month, growing slowly. Currently about 1" long. 1/8th dia.
Any help in what this might be and if it is good or bad, I would appreciate.

kinda looks like a shoot from a mangrove. how long have you had the rock?
BTW nice looking coral! christmas tree?

could be a calcerous macro like halimeda too. its hard to say when they are soo small. it doesnt look like nuisance algae to me though.

looks like Neomeris annulata , but pretty sure a neomeris of some sort

Thanks for the replies, I will have to look up some of the names you guys mentioned.
The coral was purchased as a purple capanella. Colt coral I believe.
