I need help getting rid of the algae in my tank. I have a 90 gal live rock and sand only. I have several inverts (10 nassarius, 20 hermits, 6 emerald crabs, 5 conches and 20 turbo snails) and one damsel. I set it up around April 2007, it started as diatoms and then turned into a green algae. I have been doing 10-15% RO water change every week. I have tested water every week as well (ph 8.2, nitrate 0, nitrite 0 and ammonia 0). The specific gravity is between 1.021-1.023. I only keep the lights on for 4 to 6 hours daily. The tank is situated in a dimly lit area of the house and no direct sunlight hitting the tank. Don't know what else to do, PLEASE HELP !! . I have attached a photo of the algae below.
Thanks,

Thanks,

That brown algae is coraline and is a beneficial sign of a maturing tank,, I dont see anything wrong at all,, in a matter of fact its looking good! BUT i would raise my salinity to 1025-1026 IF you plan on keeping those inverts alive, do this by replacing evaporation with salt water,, do this at a 'SNAILS PACE" Be worry of Bubble algae, Red Slime algae..

Yep, I agree with heatlover! That is some great looking rock for only 2-3 months! I let some of my pieces of rock dry out in the sun for a few days to get rid of some bristleworms about six months ago. And those pieces just now look like yours.

Does this mean you didn't believe me on your first thread earlier today with this same question? Since MiaHeatLvr said the same thing, now do you believe me? LOL

That is not what I mean. I posted the first one on disease/treatment, then my wife said I should have posted it at new hobbyist. So being a good husband, I was just following the wifey's order. But thanks for the response
