Hey I got new fresh bulbs and got a dia. aglea bloom so I knew my tank was off.
All but phosphates where in check test tells me anyway. So I started doing 10% water changes every other day. I have done 3 so far and have not seen the drop yet??
I also just added to help speed it up Phoslock and purigen to my filters media.
I add fresh media every 4 to 6 weeks, but all new fresh in last week.
I have cut my lights back a few hrs. Feeding I only do every 3 days, and once per week on my anenomes. Now my snails and couchs are pooping like mad.
Is this bad, will it hurt my new corals? Also anything else I can do to speed this up. Am I going about the problem the right way?

5.0 is high as you know
have you tested the water change water? might be time to change your filters in the RO/DI...if your useing tap..i dont think you are your always reading on this site..i would pin it on that
P.S. no it shouldnt hurt your corals...its just algee food...but...you dont want green water, or algee growing every where so fight it the best you know how, useing that phoslock i would take your carbon out

My new water is good no problems there, it is just my tank?? I have been testing right after water change does that matter? Will the carbon mess up my Phoslock??

If you do have a Ro/DI unit see if your phos test is good for tap water. I had a problem with an algae break out and i thought that my RO/DI unit wasn't filtering properly. Tested the tap water --Phos where extremely high then tested fresh RO/DI water and the phos was almost non exisitant. Sounds like you are doing all the correct things. Just seems that maybe it will take sometime of water changes to correct the problem
