since u don't know what to get for ur tank..i suggest a all-in-one tank like an aquapod or a biocube. i got my 24g aquapod with filter lights pump for 200 bucks..check ur lfs..they should have a couple..for a newb like myself and you.. i also suggest buy premix saltwater from ur lfs. much easier..after u get it all set up with sand and saltwater in there with the filter on.. u have to let ur tank cycle.a 10g tank shouldn't take to long to cycle..u can start the cycle by puttin in a raw shrimp from the supermarket..if u don't have a test kit. get one now u need to test for a ammonia spike. once u get the spike u can remove the shrimp and wait till all ur water parameters reach 0. after that u can get a very small clean up crew..if i were u i would get lr..it helps with the biofiltration..if u do make sure its cured before u put it in..after a couple of weeks u've added ur clean up crew u can add ur first fish..a false or true clown would make a great first fish..
while u wait for ur tank to cycle take time to research on this furom..lots of information..most likely someone already asked the question u have so do some searching..anyways heres a pic of my two clowns..they been in my tank for 3 weeks now..and doing great..these are 2 true perc clowns..

Man you got to slow the roll!
Advice from someone with little experience;
1. Whatever tank you think you want to start... triple the volume, don't ask just do. The small tanks are for those with Jedi skills or those that have failed but learned.
2. Whatever money you have to spend... triple that and you aint even there yet.
3. Whatever time you think you have be ready to spend more... the cool thing about this is you will want to spend the time not feel like you have to.
4. Last, FORGET WALMART. You ain't gonna be able to go there much longer to support this hobby.

yessss. forget walmart find a LOCAL FISH SHOP that has experience with saltwater tanks..u are not gonna find premix saltwater at walmart.u have a better chance finding it at petsmarts...but petsmart sucks also..its okay to start out with a small tank but u have to pay more attentions to water parameters cuz it less stable..i started with a 24g so it can be done just less room for mistakes..so good luck..this is an awesome hobby but just take lots of patience...if u ask a lot of questions and do things right the first time.. you will save a whole lot of money...

Just to clarify- what kind of fish are you wanting to put in the tank? And how many?
And, not sure if anyone covered the cycling period (I tend to speed-read sometimes) but once you have your tank initially set up, you should probably let it cycle for two weeks at the least. Test your parameters every day until you see ammonia, nitrites and nitrates go to 0. Then you can add your clean-up crew. Wait another week, and then add your first fish.
Remember, the only thing that happens fast in this hobby is failure

u also definetly need a refractometer or hydrometer to check salinity.
just stick with two fish anymore then that ur tank might crash do to bio overload..i'd say put the clowns at the same time. clowns can get agressive towards one another if put at separate times with such a small tank..or rearrange the rock before u put the second one in if u have rock..

i'd stick with the 10g since u already have it..y would u want to go smaller..the bigger the tank the better. get the biggest tank u can afford..
