I had the same truobles until I put chaeto in my refuigium, the chaeto lives of the nutrients some of the problem algae use to grow on and prevents them.
Research:
refugium, overflow box, and chaeto.
It may cost you some money to set one of these up and will be well worth it in the long run.
Things you'll need
an old tank you may have around or you can go pick up a 20 long or even a rubbermaid tub will work- (This will be your refugium) - $20- $40
In the refugium you'll put about a 2 inch sand bed- $15
an overflow box, this will take the water from your main tank down into the refugium- I have one I'll sell you for $45 shipped.
Chaetomorpha- roughly $16 dollars shipped on the good ol auction site under chaeto
A flourescent light to go ver the chaeto in your fuge, I bought one of those silver hang above lights at walmart for $6 and put a 100 watt spiral bulb $5 in it and it is working great . Run this 24/7
A return pump. $20-40
These items are about all you'll need and you can take off your other filtration system with this, your tank will thrive. I am running one on both of my tanks and my levels are great, only do water changes monthly and no more annoyinig res slime or hair algae!

If your not runnig a skimmer the refugium above I listed can help, but you need to add more live rock to your tank or a skimmer. Your filtration you are running now IMO is lacking strongly. On the auction site you can get a won bothers skimmer for about 75 shipped and it's not a popular brand but is awesome, buy the one rated for a 125 gallon tank, it collects alot of gunk.
I realize money doesn't grow on trees and I am only suggesting things that are working for me, you can always just by some chaeto and float it right in your main tank , the stuff works great.

As I listed above you can float the chaeto in you main tank, it'll absorb alot of the nutrients the hair algae's living off and doesn't put off any poor things back into your tank. YTou can get it for a fraction of what the chemicals will run and this stuff lives on and grows. Some fish even like to snack on it.

Yeah LFS has it .25 a gallon. I feed them once a day 1 cube. I love that movie eric

I usually have it between 1.024,1.025 but I ran out of salt. Getting more tomarrow.

I had algae problems, and it really cleared up when I started changing water out with RO that I bought at the pet store. Maybe your tap wter has a lot of gook in it? Go get some lidded five gallon buckets from your local big-box hardware store. It's worth a shot!
