i have a tetra tec 150 hob filter right now. i would like to upgrade to fluval canister maybe...would i be able to just take off my current hob filter and put the other one on and not have a problem? or would this cause problems in my tank?

keep the one u have on for a while, cuz it contains some bio-filtering bacteria
keep em both goin for about 3 weeks or so, then u can remove the HOB

a canister sits on the floor or in the stand.. just the intake and return hose are in the tank.. id say less then ur hob for sure..

u cant see the sump on the other side of the tank... i use the canister for CRYSTAL CLEAR water!

i use it when the water starts lookin a little cloudy.. thats why i dont have it under my stand... but you can usually fit em under there real easy

i only have a 30g tank so i would prolly need the smallest one....that one u have looks larger than what i would need since your tank looks larger...

i dunno if there is such as a too big of one or not.. but if u go with a good one, u will prolly get rid of one of your powerheads depending on how strong it is..

that would be cool cause if i could do away with one then it would definately fit in nicely...do the canister filters have more fire power than the hob's?

i think fluval is a decent brand.. eheim is one of the top, but u dont have to get top brand.. i would go with something that doesnt contain bio-balls.. some of them have bio-balls, but i think u can just leave them out.. but im not too sure if u are supposed to run carbon all the time or not.. i think i may have read somewhere that its not too good for a reef tank, but then i heard the opposite too.. so im just gonna do mine every so often, like a week out of a month.. but i have a wet/dry plus soon to be fuge

here i my sump.. the wet/dry is just bio-balls.. the water trickles thru em.. some of the balls are wet... some are out of the water.. therefore wet/dry.. im gonna drill a hole in the side of it and use bulkheads to connect that to the fuge..
