I took LR out of my tank ...but put amount the same amount back in the tank ..maybe off by 5 to 7 lbs ....but i also put two brand new rio 2100 powerheads in the tank (55gal) they together put out about 1400 gph. My two pajama cardinal fish died today... lawn mower blenny does look too good. Just test my levels and they are where they normally are. nitrates a little high like 20 i think but everything else really close to 0. Can the water flow be trying my fish and killing them ????

was the live rock cured ? just wondering if that might of caused a spike in ammonia ??? how were the fish before ?? showing any signs of stress??
sounds strange thatyou could be loosing fish if you JUST changed rock unless it was'nt cured or something strange like that. JMO

you sure ammonia is at o? any time you move lr around stirs everything and you normaly get a spike, did you get lr from lfs? sometime lfs tell you that lr is cure when it really isn't.

I recently rearranged all of my rock, and if I did get an ammonia spike because of it, it didn't harm my fish. That's probably not his problem, unless maybe the tank is overstocked.

its a different situation when you rearange lr that's been already in your tank, yeah i've done this too but you can't tell me that it doesn't stress out fish and water gets cloudy. was the lr that you put in, the same one that you took out.how long has the lr been in your tank?

Same live rock that's been in the tank for about ten years. And yeah, the fish didn't like it and the water clouded up a bit, but within a few hours eveything was back to normal.

From my experience, I removed 280lbs of LR and had it out of the tank for 30 mins then gave it a FW dip to kill a mantis.
The water was very cloudy, fish were stressed and yes I did get slight amonia spike. I tested (salifert)my water and it did not show any signs of amonia but when I brought it to my LFS, they showed very low grade amount of ammonia. I did another 50 gal and everything was fine.
All of my fish were fine in the end.
May want to find another souce to test your water to make sure.
Make sure there is not stay current from those new PH's.
Good luck.
