I have two of these attached to my live rock, both are less than a quarter of an inch in size. Looking at one, it appears that there are clear tentacles with a ball on the tips. There are two other holes in the rock where it appeared as if there were others but they died. They seem to be attached into the rock.

Do they look like this when open?
Then they are Majanos, you need ti kill them they will take over your tank. Use Joes Juice or something similar.

No, in fact they do not open much more than what the picture shows. The opening gets a little bigger and the tentacles are barely visible.

It's outside ring looks like a plate coral but that middle is strange. Is it as gray in person as the picture shows? Is it soft to the touch or do you feel a hard body underneath the soft tissue?

It is not as dark as the picture shows, more of a lighter clear gray. The outer ring has white on the lines pointing in, they look gray in the picture. It appears that there is a membrane inside of the ring that only opens a little revealing what appears to be tentacles but they never seem to extend beyond the membrane. They are very small, the total diameter is less than say an m&m. they ring on the outside is hard and appears to be fused to the rock and the inside seems soft.

Could be a rock anemone. Then its a plus, low level light required light feeding once a week, should be happy. Just watch to make sure it doesn't start multiplying then I say its a Majanos and you need to get rid of them.
