I turned the skimmer on with the valve all the way open and the cup fills up in just a few minutes. Am I missing something? I don't believe this is right. I know their is a break in period but I cant sit there and empty a cup every few minutes. Please any idea will help.

Make sure the gate valve is truly all the way open, without a doubt. Take the gate valve off and inspect it while you are turning. Make sure you are turning it in the right direction. Play with it a little and see what happens.
2. Check to make sure that the air line tube has no obstructions. Make sure that it is above water. Make sure there is nothing clogging it what-so-ever. Make sure that it is fully attached to the pump through the special attachment on the input of the pump.
Make sure that the skimmer is in no more than 10" of water and no less than 6" of water.
This can be fixed, quite easily, actually. Just have to play around with it.

I did this because it said water minnimum on the out side the max was by the cup. please explain. the gate valve is completely open when i messed with it and closed it I had one hell of a mess. tubing is completely free of kinks and clogs. I will try tonight thank you, Thinking vinegar bath to.

Hi,
The problem you discribe is when the skimmer in in too deep of water....you will have to raise it up by putting it on a stand in the sump, or lowering the sump water. The water has to be high enough to cover the pump and an extra inch or two above it, deeper than that, and it just pulls water.

I thought I had it all worked out but sadly no. Does the water level have to stay at a constant level? If the water drops an inch or more it stops producing bubbles so do I have to move it to another area.

Yes, the level of the water should stay the same. Put the skimmer in 6 inches of water and make a stand for it if you need.
