So i just bought my first refractometer today Model RHS 10ATC. I have read the directions for the unit but what im not sure about is calibrating part do u use tap water? Does the temp mater? My tank water temp is 76.4deg if that maters
The ATC part of the model means that it adjusts to the temperature of the water you are testing. You want to calibrate with RO water. Once you are calibrated give the unti 10+ seconds to adjust to the temp of your water everytime you use it.

Do u need to calibrate it everytime you use it?When you say 10+ seconds for it to adjust, do u mean before you take the reading? Sorry im new to all this and dont want mess it up
I adjust mine every month or so, sometimes longer. I wait 5 seconds before checking it. Meaning I add 3-4 drops close the clear piece onto the water. Wait a few seconds, then take a reading. Congrats on your purchase

So i picked up some RO water and am about to calibrate it, im just wondering if i should wipe it off after, then put some drops from my tank on it?
Yeah, that's not a bad habit to get into.
If you don't wipe or rinse the SW off, it'll build up over time, and skew your readings. Cleaning the glass after every use eliminates that chance.
