Hi all! Been a lurker for about a month now. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the information I've managed to take from this site. I bought several books about aquariums but my tank was basically created totally from reading this board. Anyways, some stats about my tank to help fine tune the suggestions.
60 Gallon FOWLR (plan to have a few softies in the future)
10 Gallon Sump
10 Gallon Fuge (going to go buy some chaeto totday)
AquaC Remora Skimmer in the sump with a MJ1200
MJ1200 and MJ900 for circulation
3x54w Coralvue T-5 Lighting
45 lbs live rock
30 lbs base rock
65 lbs sand
I've had the tank and rocks in place and cycling/curing for about two months now.
ammonia - 0
nitrite - 0
nitrate - <10
SG - 1.026
temp - 81-84 (working on stabilizing)
calcium - >350
pH - 8.2
Livestock:
1 Black Sailfin Blenny
2 False Percs
I've had these fish in the tank for two weeks and all are doing great although one of my percs was yellow from the day I got it. He's slowly improving in color though and all are eating well.
Cleanup Crew:
13 Astrea Snails
10 Cerith Snails
4 Super Tongan Nassarius Snails
1 Turbo Snail
Now going by the inch of fish per 5 gallon rule, the guideline for my tank would be around 12 inches of fully grown fish. The problem is that the three fish I already have add up to 11 inches fully grown! The tank looks very bare right now so this can't be right can it?
I know that I shouldn't add any more fish for a while but since I plan to QT, I figure I can get some real soon since they won't end up in the main tank for 3-4 weeks. So I need some help stocking.
Ideally I'd like one more rock dweller, a small school of small fish and a free swimming show fish. Would this be too many? My favorite fish is a flame hawkfish so I figure it'd fit into the rock dweller category but I do worry about it eating my snails and/or attacking my blenny. I'll take the chance though since I MUST have this fish LOL. I really like the black bar chromis but noone seems to have these fish in stock. For the free swimmer, I was considering a dwarf angel but since I plan to have softies in the future, I'm not so sure. Considering my increased water volume (it's probably around 75 gals total), would a yellow tang be at all possible or will I face the wrath of the police?
Anyways, suggestions would be appreciated for fish and order of introduction
