please ehlp me someone! I turned my tank lights on for a moment tonight, I dont know why, just a weird feeling. My two clowns were spazzing out in the tank, racing around it like something was after them, they wouldnt even pay attention to me at the front of the tank. My little clown goby who is usually bright yellow is a weird peach color, and is almost totally see through, but he, along with everyone else, has been eating great. THE LFS told me to put a little piece of nori in for the snails and inverts, which I did.
So of course, I am freaking out, and I am afraid my tank is crashing, so I use my master marine kit and check all my levels.
SG 1.026
temp 80
pH 8.2
amm 0
trite 0
trate 20
I have a 30 gallon tank that has been set up about a month, and took less than a week to cycle with the live rock and live sand, so I know thats ok.
Did i just scare everyone by turning the lights on suddenly, please someone help me, I dont want to lose my fish.... I dont know what else to check for, was the nori BAD advice by the LFS and I need to do a water change???? :help: :help: :help: :help: :help:

if you were sleeping and someone put a spotlight on you what would you do?

Everything should be fine. Some of my corals look dead at night, some change colors, some fish vanish and come back in the day even...

Everything tests ok, go back to sleep. Check it in the morning and let us know if anything is truly out of wack.
Though the thought of checking for stray voltage is coming to mind,

.
exactly
In my experience, all fish will look a little different at night, some much more than others, many of them will loose a lot of their color and become almost "see through" like yo said. Your water seems fine, I would not worry about it at all. You should see my foxface at night time with the lights out.

I have a chromis that gets very pale at night, and another one that gets black spots. I wouldn't worry.

ok, so I am feeling a little embarrased right now, I got up this morning and everything is fine. I did end up going to walmart in the middle of the night and get a voltage meter, just in case. I shouldnt have flipped out so bad, cuz the shrimp and starfish were moving around just fine. hehe... I guess I just love my little fishies. Thank you so much everyone. By the way, I have been using tap water, but am switching to RO/DI. Should I do a huge water change? or just the normal 10% weekly?

Do the normal 10% weekly. One big water change could compromise your water quality. Glad to see everything is ok.

Glad to see everything is fine. I still freak out sometimes when I hear an odd water sound in the house at night.
I would do a 20% and then follow up with 10%'ers the following days.

LOL, so true. I really wish there was a MSN messenger chat group on here to join. Sometimes strange things happen and you want a live person to talk to in a hurry.

My email to add me as a contact is mrbillo@cox.net. Anyone who would like to add me is welcome, I have a desk job so sit here most of the day.
Should probably make a thread in the off topic forum to maybe catch some more people.

For anyone who would like to join us, please feel free. I'd suggest creating a new group to add these contacts to so that you can spot the SW people who are logged on and not get them mixed up with your regular friends/contacts.
