Help!! The monster ate my hammer coral

I too had a monster in my tank. I had a large emerald crab that resembled the one in the other monster link. Two days ago I noticed him begining to nibble on my hammer coral. I tried to catch him but I couldn't. This AM when I woke up a whole side of the hammer coral was torn to bits !!!!. I finally mandged to get the sucker and he is no longer with us. Will the hammer grow back??? How long does it take???

It was totally helathy. Then I watched him pick it away. It was definitely not sick.

Thats weird I have never heard of a emerald eatting any corals. I have 4 and they only eat algae, never even get on a coral.

i had a hitch hiker chili coral that an emerald ate... i think it was dying though. none of the emeralds i have now mess with anything other than valonia. :notsure:

you saw it eating your hammer? sure it wasn't just picking at the base for algae? have you tested your water parameters?
