HELP ! Tips for Cycling My New Aquarium (Fish Only Tank)

I recommend you start the tank with macro algaes in a refugium (or an algae turf scrubber). (I refugium can just be a partition so a small part of the tank is a macro area and the rest for the fish.
Wait a week to make sure the algae is established.
and then use a male molly to cycle the tank with no food being added the first week.

Hi,
I finally got my ammonia test kit but I have a constant ammonia reading of 0.25ppm ammonia.
Im using API test kits and Tetra conditioner, which removes chlorine and chloramine.
Ive tested the tap water and RO water and that reads 0.25ppm aswell.
Does anyone have any ideas??

It sounds like a false reading. Take a sample to your lfs and have them do an ammonia test at the same time that you do one. See if they agree. Why are you using the Tetra conditioner? If you are using RO water then chlorine and chloramine are not an issue.
