help w/water test asap!

hopefully someone can clear this up for me...just did water test salinity 1.020 ph 8.4 alk normal ammon. 0.25 (i know alittle high) now my nitrites and nitrate are not reading anything that resembles any color on the cards.its almost colorless. i have a 55gal.fo tank.and just did water change on tuesday.....anyone have any clues? im a newbie so i could use any help........thanx alot!!! im totally clueless:confused:

First you need to bring your salinity up to about .023-.025 then the next question I would ask is are you in the middle of a cycle? If so don't worry about your levels until the cycle is completed. HTH

Oh and if you did cycle have you added any livestock recently and are you using LR? If not get some it will help your aquarium tons.

thanx guys! i did the water change cuz of high ammon.level,lps told me to do 1/3.we got the tank about a month ago ,moved from next door neighbor.so i guess you could say its still in cycle(?) my water test has expired from what it says on the exp.date.the guy gave us what he had.no i dont have lr but will be looking today for some along with new test kit. no new livestock since we got the tank.if it helps,we also have cc(i know yuk!) but that will change to ls soon. thanx for all the help people

TBOMAN I am not sure about Camp Pendleton right now because I have been in Iraq for the past couple of months. It was good when I left but a little smokey recently from what I understand.
