I have a white sebae anemone. It was in a 54 gal tank with 4power compact bulbs. I then moved it to my 72 gal with nova extreme t5HO (2bulbs), The anemone has been in the tank for almost 2 months.
ammonia-0
nitrates-20
nitrites-0
ph-8.35
phosphate-.5
carbonate hardness- 214.8 ppmkh, 12pkh
calcium-420
In the 54 for it spread out large and tentacles were think and long. Now it is small and the tentacles are small too. It is up at the top of the tank with lots of water flow and close to the lights. I spot feed it 2 times a week with squid. It just doesnt look healthy anymore, and i missing something?
pics to come later. THANKS GUYZ!!!!

A 2 bulb t5 sounds like not enough light to me. how many watts is each bulb, 54? that means less than 110 watts, not nearly enough for that size tank. i cant remember for sure but its roughly 5 watts per gallon needed. u may need to upgrade your lighting. thats my guess.

I know the light will not be as strong at the bottom of the tank but it is less than 8 inches from the top of the tank. i figured that that would be ok. its 420 actinic and 10k daylight. I just spent alot of money on these lights could i try to go from 10k to maybe 20k to help or is that just a lost cause?

from the sound of it you need more light, maybe you can stack your rock so he could be just under the water so he is at the very top by your light but Sebae are usually found by sand beds and rock work if i remember right.
I know mine parked its self right under my 250W MH, but its a 14-15 inches away from the light.

see and the odd thing is is that my 2 separate groups of zoa's are double the depth of the anemone and are doing great!
