Well I noticed these small white spots on my coral a few weeks ago. Slowly they have grown and now have eaten thru my coral. Any idea what is going on?????? I can acutualy see thru the holes. Thanks for any input.

I have had holes like that develop on my sarcophyton and as they progress a section will seperate from the main body and form a new coral...at one time I had a picture of the event but I must have deleted it. So I'd say it is possible that your coral is going thru a natural frag. But it is also possible that something may have irrated it.

I do have a clownfish, but I've never seen him near it. I don't think he is a problem. As far as splitting, these white spots and now more than one hole, have developed in different areas of the coral. So it dosent look like a split. Thanks for the replys...

I think you will get more hits if this stays in the reef forum as is.
One suggestion that I have is to be on the look out for possible preditors.
Check the stalk in the morning and at night for tiny bugs that may be climing your leather, also a white nudibranch, possible that it may be some type of preditory snails as well.
If truly damaged then it could also be releasing more chemicals than normal I suggest running some fresh carbon.
NM - I've not heard of leathers dropping "plugs" so to speak, I'd be interested to learn more if you know anything else about it. Or did you mean a section like on the outside of the coral

Can you lower the resolution to 25 pixils per inch? This will allow you to get a bigger pic and stay in the size requirements.
