what is this and how can i get rid of it....it is on my powerheads and the top of my aquarium in little colonies..

I am probably the last person to help, but I am just going to take a stab at it and say... algae? If I am incorrect, 1000 apologies. I bet if you had some crabs and snails, that might go away... just guessing though

i have a fish only tank 90 gal for approx. 1 year and 55 gallon prior. this started just a week ago. got no clue

looks like algae and detritus. Take the power head out of the tank and scrub and clean it. Look at the instruction booklet that came with the power head to see how to take it apart and clean the inside also.
