came home today to find my puffer with what looks like his intestine or colon hanging out the bottom of his body, with what looks like dried blood around it. he is active and swimming fine so far. it doesnt look like an attack from another fish, he is the largest and probably tne most aggressive fish in the tank next to my yellow tang. im trying to upload a pic in a few minutes. can anyone tell me what this is? :help:

WOW. Deff have NOT seen anything like that before!! Poor lil guy
. I know some puffers after being fed live food can develop a liver disease that in turn ends up making them starve to death. I don't know whats wrong w/ him but I hope some else can help you out

Are you sure that it is not aggression? Is there any intakes that he could have possibly gotten struck into?
Is that an open wound? Or blood under the skin?
How long have you had this fish?

it is blood and an open wound with his guts sticking out, i have had him for 3 months with no problems and no intakes to get caught in. however he has been eating very little in the last week, i thought it was reaction to me slowly raising the salinity from a hypo treatment.
As far as agression he is the largest fish in my 300gallon FO tank. i have 2 yellow tangs,1
hippo, coral beauty, potters angel 4 perculas, 4 pj cardinals 2 dragon gobys, a tasselfile, a sweetlips clown and an elusive red striped goby.the tank is as peaceful as can be.
went downstairs this morning and he was dead.WTF

Just a thought here, but I can't keep a puffer with my hippo & yellow. She beat the living daylights out of the big one I had & with those little knives tangs carry in their tails & the wound on your puffer it might be a good guess that they had a battle.

thats all the fish and none were bigger than him or have the ability in my opinion to puncture a porcupine puffer. im starting to belive that it might be something in lines of a giant hemoroid or a anus pushed inside out. can it be some sort of intestinal parasite?. :notsure:
