I have a 30g display reef tank and wanted to add a fuge to it. I have a leftover 10g tank that i was gonna use for just this. I have trouble figuring this stuff out if somebody can help explain to me certain things. Such as what size piping i should use, what size return pump would be efficient, maybe some diagrams of how the refuge should look as far as baffles and I dont know what kind of adhesive I should use. Thanks, Lance

1.well is the 10 gal glass or acrylic?
2.piping depends on the overflow
3.return pump depends on overflow and how high the pump has to pump.
4.bafels are determined what kind of sump/fuge you will use.
5.are you going to use a skimmer, dsb., this is all taken into consideration.
yay my 100th post

it is a 10 gallon glass aquarium, will probably use a smaller skimmer and i'm not sure on what size overflow i should get... maybe 300 or 600 gph? the pump would have to lift the water approx. 4 1/2 feet. I will probably go with a DSB. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Lance

ye 300gph over flow is good. i have a 600gph on my 75. pump i would say go with a mag 5 or 7. mag 5 at 5ft hight pushes 250 the mag 7 pushes 420. you can always step it down my adding a check valve.
dsb has to be 5 or 6inches deep. skimmer im not sure which one to get but should be placed in the 1st chamber and then that will flow into the second which is the dsb and the 3rd is where you will have the return with your thermostat. bafels can only be siliconed into place. size really is up to you and position is up to you and the pump and skimmer specs. meaning how much water is needed for ideal operation. once you figure out the pump and skimmer i will be more then happy to give you a hand in designing the whole sump. also plumbing for both is 1/2 inch.
the cpr cs50 is a 300gph with a bulkhead of 3/4. all you have to do is step the piping down with a rubber toilet gasket. or a reduer in piping.
