I have had my tank up for about 4 months now and I discovered a new friend growing form the LR. It is brownish in color and is growing out of the LR in a relativly low current spot under a piece that is suspended so it is out of direct light.
It has many tenicles and looks like an anenome in a way. It does not seem to ever contrat like my anenome and its tenticles are skinny and about 1/2 an inch long. Overall it is as big as a nickle.
Any clues?

Touch it with something, other than your hand obviously, and see if it shoots back in. Kind of sounds like an aiptasia anenome.

Sounds like an asptia (spelling in question), spreads real quick. Not good for a regular reef tank. Can be controled with peppermint shrimp. HTH

Its a mantis shrimp! Kill It!
No, its a copepod!
Now thats out of the way, it does sound like a rock anemone of sorts, possibly of the aptasia varity. They can spread like weeds, but are easily controlled with peppermint shrimp in the reef tank, and butterfly fish in the FOWLR tank. However, it sounds kinda big for aptasia. It harmless, unless it multiplies like little bunnies. I would leave it be, and if you start to see more, get a natural predator.
