Help with Anemone

I purchased a long tentacled purple tipped anemone this afternoon. He is attached to a large (15 lb) piece of Florida live rock. Does he need lots of light or not? I keep getting conflicting reports. I bought him for my 6 gallon nano reef but am unsure if that light is sufficient. I can put him in my 44 gallon with MH lighting. What does he eat? Any help would be appreciated

Yes he needs good lighting. And I would'nt suggest a anemonie in such a small tank. You will soon learn that they grow quick and that one in particular gets BIG!!!
They eat meaty ffods like silversides, pops, squid and shimp.Feed them about once a week and he'll be fine.Good luck and congradulations.

Thanks. Can I do something with the small tank or should I just move him to the bigger tank? What are the min. for lights and what type of food should I feed him?

Sorry, I see you did give food examples. I wonder why the local store gave me bad info. on lighting. I guess I should have read more 1st but he looked to great to pass up

Yes anemones like alot of light but be careful they don't like too much light. It would be better if you put him in the bigger tank, just put him in the sand. Most long tentacled anemones love to be placed in the sand, and that way he will get just enough lighting.
