Help with Blue Hippo tang!

My tang had a bad breakout of ich. I did a FW Dip on him, and place him in my QT tank. He doesn't seem to be doing good in there tho. Hes been proping himself up against the side of the tank since he got in there, and now hes starting to lean a little more.
Should I get him out of there and put him back in the main tank to see how he does? I dont know what to do! My cowfish is in the QT tank and he is doing fine! All the levels are good, what should I do?!

i'm sorry to hear about your situation, I have never had and outbreak of ich {knock on wood!), but my thinking is I wouldn't want my other fish to get it, and I wouldn't want meds in my man tank. JMO. Don't they like to hide? is there a place he can hide and chill. isn't your other fish a delicate fish? are you not worried about exposing him? Hope all goes well for you.

My other fish had a slight outbreak too, so I just wanted to get him outta my main tank. I do have places for him to hide, I got some PVC pipes in there, but he doesn't seem to be interested. I know they are a timid fish, but all hes doing is propping himself up against the glass, so its just makin me nervous.
Its been more than a few hours now, and hes still doing it. His breathing is fine though, so hopefully he pulls through. Luckily the cowfish is doing good, because if he gets stressed out, my blue hippo is gonna die anyways because the cow will release toxins! So At least Ive got that goin for me! lol

very true! I do believe the hippo tangs act like that when they are stressed, like play dead and stuff, hopefully after he chills a bit he'll be okay. good luck.

I have copper treatment in right now, and I am going to begin hypo first thing tomorrow morning. Is there anything else I should be doing?
By the way, update on the hippo, she was up and swimming around when I checked on her, and as soon as she seen me she went back to her corner, so at least I know she can swim. I fed them and they both ate good, so its a good start. Shes still covered in spots even after the fw dip, but hopefully the copper and hypo take care of it!

I think the preferred method by most everyone is hypo. I have a fish in hypo now that was covered in ich and so far it seems to be working real well. Good luck!

Update on the hippo. She seems to do worse when I leave the lights off. I finally got the temp up to 80, and I am going to begin hypo as soon as I'm done typing this reply! Hopefully with the lights on for a little bit she starts coming around! Right now shes just acting like she was when I first put her in there. Hopefully shes still just "playing dead" like hippos like to do. We'll see I guess!
Oh and by the way, the cowfish is still going strong!

In case anyone is still even wondering how these guys are doing, the hippo is still up and swimming ever since the lights have been turned back on. And her spots are visibly better, but she still has quite a way to go.
The Cowfish looks pretty much the same, but hes been doing good ever since I put him in there.
They are both still eating well and I currently have the SG down to 1.013, and its been about 26 hours since they went in, so I think I'm right on track!
I will keep updating even if no one is watching because if it works, this post might be able to help someone else that may have this problem with a blue hippo!

Hippo Tangs are fakers...they play dead, sick and dying...Do you have you some place for it to hide and feel safe?

Haha yeah I knew hippos
liked to play dead, but I'm finding out now how far they actually take it! lol
I do have 6 inch pcs of PVC pipe for her to hide in or around and shes not even going near them. As long as they keep getting better then I dont care i guess!
The SG is down to 1.011, and I am going to do a water change tonight yet and one more in the morning and it should be down to 1.009! I'll keep everyone updated!
