Ive been trying to figure out whats wrong with these things for about a month now....Someone please help.. I had it higher up when it started to not fully open. So i figured maybe it was the light, so i moved it down. Looks like its getting worse.
First pics is 5 months ago. Second is now.

I don't know nearly as much as some of the experts here, but if your lighting isn't high enough -- they won't thrive. You might want to try some food for corals.

Right now im running a dual pc. 1x96w actinic, 1x96 daylight. 192w total for a 46 gallon is around 4 watts per gallon. Tank is 21" deep. Will be getting halides in a couple weeks. That will be 2x150w DE HQI 14,000k.

I agree that it should go higher in the tank for more light but with food they won't need as much light. Try target feeding the colony with some type of finely minced seafood. Normally they can do very well by grabbing leftover food & waste from fish but if you have a very clean tank they might not be getting enough protein.
Try feeding them first. Once they have closed up and open again you can safely move them to higher ground if you want. They will color up better with more lighting.

my zoa's that look like that wont take any food. I have larger longer tenticle button polyps that will but not those that I have (same color and all) wont eat anything including zoo and phytoplankton.
