-cut down the lighting by half
-increase flow in DT
-decrease feeding
-increase water changes and sucking up the algae at the same time
when the cyano is all gone, you can start increasing the time your lights are on by an hour a week. dont do it too fast, they might just come back real quick.

Yes, do all of the above, but if your outbreak is SERIOUS then use this product: here
It worked for me, and my system is thriving, use this ONLY, ONLY IF NONE OF THE PREVIOUS SUGGESTIONS RID YOUR SYSTEM OF CYANO!

Thank You so much I am going to reduce the lighting and do more water changes. I will see how this works before I go out and buy a chemical for the tank. Thank you all for your input again.

another thing - you might want to look into getting - reverse osmosis/ deionization filter (RO/DI). I bought one pretty cheap online and that is the only water I use now with the tank. It helps remove the things that cyanobacte eats.

BTW, when using that chemical, if you do, be ABSOLUTELY SURE to monitor your nitrates, AND also THOROUGHLY READ THE DIRECTIONS. If you mess up you will deplete the oxygen in your tank, and EVERYTHING will suffocate, i overdosed purposely in a test tubberware with some aptasia. not a pretty sight. This product also takes a few days to work, but the first sure sign is the cyano starting to desintegrate, like its just dissolving.

I've used Chemiclean Red Slime Remover with very good results. But like stated above, follow the directions to a "T", remembering to turn OFF your skimmer and you will need to wait until after you've done your 20% water change 48 hours later before turning your skimmer back on. Even then it might act up on you for the first 12 hours, but it will settle down and go back to normal function.
I found my biggest reason for the outbreak was over feeding. Cut back to once a day and sometimes go ahead and go a day without feeding. You do need to know the needs of your fish though. I have a male Anthias and I do put a tiny bit of food just for him a couple times a day. He's greedy so he's usually right at the top of the water ready to wolf it down.
