actual amount of water is 240 gallons. that is the difference of abotu 90 gallons. i dont have anything that i dont feel will have any problems moving escept a red sea sailfin and a naso tang. everything else is nice a hardy. the sailfin is not that bad. but the naso i am worried about.
so how can i do this and make it easy on myself and the fish. i have a lot of rock that i will have to move aleast a hour before so the water can settle.
at this point all i need is tips. like putting the new substrate in. i dont want a cloud for 5 days.if you know what i mean

Are you going to start with a new dsb or use existing and transfer?
Here is a trick I read about here:
Place sand in new tank
Cover with a new plastic trash bag
Fill tank about %50
Remove plastic
Add rock
Top off tank
As your filling the plastic will keep the sand undesturbed for the most part. The cloudyness will be gone in few hours, not days. Hope this helps

I just did this a few weeks ago.
I moved as much water out of my old tank as possible into 25-gallon ice coolers. Everything that was living went into a cooler that I put a heater and a power head for water movement. Live Rock went into all the others making sure that all the rocks were underwater completely. I removed the media from old tank and used it on the new tank. I added enough water to bring the tank water level up to 5”. Then added the sand, filed the tank with as much water as I could. Two days prior I mixed up 30 gallons of new saltwater, topped off the tank with that water. Then and after checking the temp of the water in the cooler and the new tank started to acclimate the living things back into the just as I would have if I bought them that day. Add live rock and I was done. The new tank never cycled and my fish are as happy or happier then before.
Good Luck
:)
